The history of Café Sati
The history of Café Sati began in 1926 in Strasbourg, when Georges Schulé founded a small coffee roasting shop. Over the course of a hundred years, the family business has grown into an independent regional coffee production company, maintaining its family traditions and love for coffee. The company has continuously invested in roasting, production, and packaging technologies while preserving its accumulated coffee expertise. Today, Café Sati passes on its experience and knowledge to new generations, paying special attention to quality and responsible coffee sourcing.
The quality of the coffee is ensured by a champion's experience
Sébastien Maurer – Quality Manager at Café Sati and five-time French Cup Tasting champion.
Sébastien Maurer has been working at Café Sati since 2004 and is responsible for evaluating coffee quality. He has become the French Cup Tasting champion five times – in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2022, and 2024. This championship requires precise identification of different aroma and flavor characteristics of coffee. In 2024, Sébastien also represented France at the World Championship in Chicago, where he placed 7th. His experience and honed skills in identifying tastes and aromas contribute to the careful selection and quality control of Café Sati coffees.
Certificates, sustainability and responsible practice
Café Sati's quality is complemented by a commitment to people, the environment, and responsible coffee production.
The Café Sati range includes organic and Fairtrade/Max Havelaar certified coffees, and the company also holds the IFS Food certificate. The PME+ label recognizes the company's social responsibility, care for employees, the environment, the region, and product quality. The "Alsace Excellence" label highlights Café Sati's innovation, dynamism, and long-standing connection to the Alsace region. Sustainability initiatives include waste reduction, circular economy projects, and recyclable and compostable packaging. One of the international projects is "Naturalba" in Costa Rica, through which Café Sati, together with local coffee growers, aims to promote responsible farming, better conditions for producers, and the preservation of biodiversity.
